A web log started by two Wine Enthusiasts, synonym for "Winos". Its intent is to log our thoughts and opinions about inexpensive wines available at local grocery and beverage stores. Our hope is to prevent other "Winos" from making the same mistakes we made with our wine purchases.

Franzia White Merlot
Was on a "honey do" run to pick up ice. Decided to pick up a Mega Millions Lotto Ticket since the jackpot is so high while on this run. Went to the convenience store down the road and received an offer I could not refuse. Buy wine or beer and get a bag of ice for free. So, not wanting to pass up a deal, checked out the wine selection and found a "wine in the box" offering from Franzia that we had not tried before - a White Merlot! Earned a "Good Rating". Both Winos agreed to purchase again!
Castello Dell Poggio Moscato
Splurged and bought a bottle of "more expensive wine". This one went for $15 at our local store. Was thinking this one was the same Moscato we like from the Olive Garden Restaurant. It was the same!
This one gets easily gets a "Good Rating"; only problem now... there were only two bottles available. Now there are none!

Pianello Monteforte - Pinot Grigio 2010
Here is a Pinot Grigio that we picked up the other day. Finally got around to drinking it. White Wine Wino liked and would purchase again. Red Wine Wino opted not to buy again. So, going with our rating system, it gets a "Neutral Rating" since we cannot agree.

Franzia - Fruity Red Sangria
Funds running low but wanting a taste of Sangria. Would normally make our own but who can resist 5 liters of wine for under $10! We can't... so here is to Spring and some Fruity Red Sangria! Both Winos continue to agree to buy this one in the future; gets a "Good Rating" again!

Barefoot Merlot for Dinner!
White Wine Wino was making a new dish found on the Internet for dinner. Came from the show "Everybody Loves Raymond". It's called a Braciole... made with beef, prosciuto, and other things cooked in red wine.
A quick look at the wine rack showed a Barefoot Merlot waiting to be called to duty. Made for a great meal,... even better that the Red Wine Wino had a couple of glasses of it since the recipe did not call for an entire bottle!
Barefoot Merlot retains its "Good Rating"!

Rex-Goliath Moscato
Liked the Merlot that Rex Goliath offers. Decided to try their Moscato. Both Winos agreed to buy this one again. Gets a "Good Rating". Did note the alcohol content is on the lighter side... 9.5%.

Aconga - Chenin Blanc / Chardonnay
Bought this one on a whim while picking up groceries for the dinner meal. It comes from Argentina. Costs less than $4.00... and is a blend of two white wines - a Chenin Blanc and a Chardonnay. Too bad both Winos agreed not to buy this one again. Gets a "Bad Rating"; taste was just not there even for two hard core winos!
