A web log started by two Wine Enthusiasts, synonym for "Winos". Its intent is to log our thoughts and opinions about inexpensive wines available at local grocery and beverage stores. Our hope is to prevent other "Winos" from making the same mistakes we made with our wine purchases.

Barefoot Merlot
Barefoot Merlot still going strong and under $5.00 in our area. Both Winos continue to give it a Good Rating!

Church Street BBQ (College Station, TX)
Was out and about at the old alma mater, stopped at Church Street BBQ in College Station. Had been here before; liked the live music; liked the drink specials. This stop it did not disappoint. It was Open Mic Night so a number of local musicians were singing. Also, it was $2 Tuesday, so everything was only $2! This time ordered a Sangria, a Texas Tea, and Barefoot Merlot... all easily get a Good Rating. We will definitely be back!

Calahan's, New Braunfels, Texas
One last stop in New Braunfels before moving on. This one is an Irish Pub serving Barefoot Merlot for their House Red. It's Calahan's located in downtown New Braunfels. Barefoot has always been a consistent producer of wines we liked. This stop re-affirmed our opinion with the Barefoot Merlot earning another "Good Rating"!

Church Street BBQ - House Reds
One more stop while roaming the off-campus area known locally as the Northgate back at Texas A&M. This one was not there back when the two Winos went to school back in the day. But, we liked the live music, so we stopped to check them out. While there, ordered a Ziegenbock Beer and then their House Reds they offered. Guess what... the House Reds were Barefoot Winery's Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. "Good Ratings" for both of them!

Barefoot Merlot for Dinner!
White Wine Wino was making a new dish found on the Internet for dinner. Came from the show "Everybody Loves Raymond". It's called a Braciole... made with beef, prosciuto, and other things cooked in red wine.
A quick look at the wine rack showed a Barefoot Merlot waiting to be called to duty. Made for a great meal,... even better that the Red Wine Wino had a couple of glasses of it since the recipe did not call for an entire bottle!
Barefoot Merlot retains its "Good Rating"!

Barefoot Merlot and Barefoot Moscato Again!
March 26, 2011
Barefoot Merlot, Moscato, and Cabernet Sauvignon
While on a run to the local drug store, noticed Barefoot wines were on sale ($4.99 a bottle). Decided to go with three wines we have rated as "Good" in the past. Good meaning we would purchase the wine again!
So, in keeping with our rating system, bought a Merlot, a Moscato, and a Cabernet Sauvignon.
