While out this weekend, stopped at the Whole Foods Grocery Store on Dallas. Stumbled on the beer and wine tasting bar in the store! May need to volunteer for more errands to rhe grocery store in the future!

Pane Vino House Red

had lunch at Pane Vino the other day; great tasting wood fired pizzas as well as a tasty House Red! Not sure where it comes from but this one easily gets a Good Rating from the Winos!

Into The Glass Wine Bar and Texas Cafe, Grapevine, Texas

Was in Grapevine several weeks ago to try tasting different wines. After walking around the area, decided to settle in at "Into The Glass Wine Bar and Texas Cafe".

Had a great time tasting several wines; also had the Brie and Chicken Nachos which were outstanding!  Here is a picture of the dish...

For the wines, here are pictures with our rating noted in the captions. Do give this place a try when you are in the area!

Robert Hall Rose '13 - Paso Robles (Neutral) and Casas del Bosque Carmenere '12 - Chile (Good)

Bricco Magno Nebbiolo '10 - Italy (Good)

Vignoble Ferret Ugni Blanc '12 - France (Neutral)

Caltern Pinot Grigio '11 - Alto Adige (Good)

Here are descriptions of the wines as listed in their menu for your reference:
  • Robert Hall Rose '13 - Paso Robles (Neutral): Fresh raspberry and tangerine. Juicy and refreshing!
  • Casas del Bosque Carmenere '12 - Chile (Good): Serrano peppers with wild cherry cola... Herbaceous!
  • Bricco Magno Nebbiolo '10 - Italy (Good): Orange peel and spice box with smooth dark chocolate.
  • Vignoble Ferret Ugni Blanc '12 - France (Neutral): Candied grapefruit and melon... a crisp, refreshing finish!

Grist Mill's Sangria!

Was having dinner the other week in Gruene, Texas at the Grist Mill.  Decided to try their Sangria... tasty, tasty, tasty.  It gets a Good Rating from the Winos.  Went with a carafe instead of just a glass!

Savour Tasting Room (Allen, Texas) - House Red - Ecco Merlot

Was out and about this past week.  Noticed a wine tasting venue at a local market.  Heard some live music and saw a pretty lady singing her heart out.  So, why not stop for a taste of wine.  Ordered their House Red - Ecco Merlot.  Tasty wine that the Winos agreed to purchase again,  in fact, had several glasses to be sure of course!

Calahan's, New Braunfels, Texas

One last stop in New Braunfels before moving on.  This one is an Irish Pub serving Barefoot Merlot for their House Red.  It's Calahan's located in downtown New Braunfels.  Barefoot has always been a consistent producer of wines we liked.  This stop re-affirmed our opinion with the Barefoot Merlot earning another "Good Rating"!

The Ale House, New Braunfels, Texas

Continuing on our "walkabout" in downtown New Braunfels, checked out The Ale House and ordered their House Red and a Pale Ale.... House Red turned out to be a Copperidge Merlot; Pale Ale was one we have not tried before - 151 Austin Ale.  The Copperidge Merlot earned a "Good Rating"; moreover, although we are not big on ales, the 151 Austin Ale was a pleasant surprise!

Scores Sport Bar, New Braunfels, Texas - Woodbridge Merlot

While out and about this weekend, stopped at a sports bar in New Braunfels to checkout a few NCAA Football Games.  While reviewing the scores, ordered their House Red which turned out to be the Woodbridge Merlot.  Had this one before and liked it.  This time, both Winos liked it again... this one gets a "Good Rating" again!

Landon Winery - Sweet Wines

Went back to Landon Winery in downtown McKinney (Texas).  Decided to try their Sweet Wines - Raspberry, Peach, and Sweet Red.  Of the three the Raspberry and the Sweet Red earned Good Ratings; we will buy them again with a leaning toward the Raspberry Wine over the Sweet Red.  Both were good, just liked it over the Sweet Red more.  The Peach Wine was good too but did not carry the "umph" that hard core Winos like us enjoy (more like crave) when we are drinking.

Landon Winery - Texas Tempranillo

Stopped at a local winery for a glass wine after dinner.  The winery is Landon Winery located in McKinney, Texas.  They offer a number of wines to chose from; in our case, we decided on their Tempranillo.  This one gets a Good Rating!

Churchill's Pub - Wine and Mixed Drinks, McKinney Texas

Stopped at a local bar called Churchill's Pub.  Ordered mixed drinks and their house red wines - a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Pass on the mixed drinks; the Limoncella Martini was not what we were looking for.  But, the house red wines were!  Both get a Good Rating.  Problem is we forgot the name of the Winery.  It start with "Shadow..." else we forget the other words.

Margarita Time at Jalapenos

Decided to take a Margarita break and stopped at a local eatery that we have not been to in a long time.  It is a Tex-Mex Restaurant called Jalapenos.  Ordered the Traditional Margarita as the Mercedes Premium Margarita is very good but very strong in alcohol content.  They still make a good Margarita!

Church Street BBQ - House Reds

One more stop while roaming the off-campus area known locally as the Northgate back at Texas A&M.  This one was not there back when the two Winos went to school back in the day.  But, we liked the live music, so we stopped to check them out.  While there, ordered a Ziegenbock Beer and then their House Reds they offered.  Guess what... the House Reds were Barefoot Winery's Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.  "Good Ratings" for both of them!

Dixie Chicken Red Sangria

Making the rounds on the old stomping grounds this weekend.  Had a Lonestar Beer and then a Red Sangria from the Dixie Chicken!  Guess what... both Winos give the Red Sangria a "Good Rating"!  Will buy this one again.

Taco Cabana Margaritas (College Station, Texas)

This is one the Winos always can agree on.  Stopped at our alma mater... Gig'em Aggies!  Taco Cabana in College Station still makes a decent Margarita; easily earns a "Good Rating"!
